Century Fox introduced moviegoing audiences to The Croods, the most famous animated prehistoric family since The Flintstones. Starring Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Cloris Leachman and Clark Duke, The Croods went on to earn over $1. It also managed to snag a Best Animated Feature Film Oscar nomination for its efforts. A sequel was all set up and ready to go for a December 2.

DWA’s distribution moved from 2. Century Fox to Universal Pictures, and despite hiring writers Kevin and Dan Hageman (The LEGO Ninjago Movie, Trollhunters), the studio cancelled the sequel. But now, DWA is unearthing The Croods 2 and has set a new release date for September 1.

Deadline reports. It was surprising that The Croods 2 was ever shelved in the first place rather than simply delayed, but it’s less surprising that an Oscar- nominated, nearly- $6. Netflix saw the title family arrive in a more traditional animated design in Dawn of the Croods, a series that featured an all- new cast taking on the roles. The original film’s cast is expected to return along for the big- screen sequel, however, along with the addition of Leslie Mann.

The sequel, when last we heard about it, was intended to introduce another prehistoric family that comes into conflict with The Croods. No new writers/director announcements have been made at this moment, so we’ll keep an eye out for more on The Croods 2 in the months ahead. Image via Dream. Works Animation. Cop is returning to theaters to celebrate its 3. The 1. 98. 7 action/sci- fi classic from director Paul Verhoeven remains one of the most memorable movies of its time, blending an iconic hero with unflinching ultraviolence and an underlying satire not found in many other movies of its ilk. Verhoeven’s unique vision continued with similarly over- the- top, socially conscious sci- fi thrillers like the original Total Recall and Starship Troopers.

Robo. Cop, however, was Verhoeven’s original breakthrough hit when it first came out in 1. The Peter Weller- starring actioner remains as distinguished as ever due to its distinctive mix of themes and penchant for the extreme that quickly became Verhoeven’s signature. Monday marks the official 3.

Robo. Cop’s debut in theaters, but the movie is set to celebrate year 3. Alamo Drafthouse. As reported by THR on Monday, Robo. Cop will be screened live on Sept. Watch On Golden Pond Online Iflix. Dallas City Hall in Texas, the real- life filming location of the Omni Consumer Products headquarters from the original movie. At that location will be a one- night- only screening of Robo.

Cop, followed by a live appearance and Q& A with Weller. The Dallas screening event will also include food trucks and a full bar with Robo.

Cop- themed drinks, among other attractions. Robo. Cop fans who can’t make it to the Dallas screening are not out of luck. Alamo Drafthouse will also hold live streams of the Dallas screening and Q& A at locations across the country. Tickets to the live- stream locations, which THR termed “Robo.

Cop parties”, will include props that viewers will be able to use to interact with the movie. Tickets to the events will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. EST, according to Birth. Movies. Death. The event, presented by Birth. Movies. Death, Syfy, and Alamo Drafthouse, is a sprawling celebration of a movie that certainly deserves a special kind of recognition as it reaches its 3. The original Robo. Cop didn’t just shock viewers with its over- the- top violence; it dared to ask tough questions about the ways that corporations, media, law enforcement, and other entities influence and affect society.

Considering the huge legacy that Robo. Cop still holds in action and sci- fi history, it would come as no surprise to see the upcoming 3. Of course, this event is also a bit of a painful reminder of the disappointment that was the 2. Robo. Cop remake, which Verhoeven believed took itself too seriously. It inevitably was not going to live up to the standard set by the original, or even approach the level of thought- provoking satire that Verhoeven achieved with the original.
